
Joseph Boatman From Griffith Charged From Hammond Shooting At Citgo
On February 4th, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Hammond police were dispatched to the Citgo gas station at 169th/Indianapolis Blvd. in reference to a shooting that occurred inside of a vehicle, Lt. Steve Kellogg of the Hammond Police stated. A child was inside the vehicle at the time and was not injured. The female was transported to an area hospital for a wound to her head. Thankfully, the female was released from the hospital in stable condition due to the location of the wound, Kellogg said.
On February 6th, 28-year-old Joseph B. Boatman from Griffith was charged with three felony counts including criminal recklessness, neglect of a dependent, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. Mr. Boatman is in custody in Illinois and awaits extradition to Indiana.
