Lake Station Man Charged With Multiple Felonies After Domestic Violence Investigation

A Lake Station man, Eli Fabian Ramirez-Garcia, 26, is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges following a reported domestic violence investigation that court records say involved threats, a pocket knife, and an attempt to place tape over the victim’s mouth.

According to the probable cause affidavit, at approximately 1:17 p.m. on December 10, 2025, Lake County Sheriff’s Department officers were dispatched to a residence in the 2500 block of Union Street in Lake Station in reference to a battery. The reporting party advised dispatch that a man had cut her and tried to tape her mouth shut, and that she believed he was trying to kill her.

Court records state that while officers were en route, they were advised the male subject was fleeing on foot wearing shorts, a white tank top, and no shoes. Officers continued a foot chase but eventually lost sight of the suspect. Officers then checked a nearby Dollar Tree in the 4700 block of Central Avenue, where a male leaving the store matching the description was located, later identified as Ramirez-Garcia, and detained. A search located a pocket knife on his person.

The affidavit states the victim reported telling Ramirez-Garcia he needed to leave her residence and that she no longer wanted him living there. She reported Ramirez-Garcia grabbed her and forced her back onto a bed while holding a pocket knife, causing a minor laceration to her right thumb and left hand. Court records state Ramirez-Garcia then sat on a couch next to the bed, grabbed a roll of tape, and attempted to place the tape on her mouth, but the victim fought back and prevented it.

The affidavit further states the victim reported Ramirez-Garcia grabbed her throat, causing her to feel as if everything slowed down and making it difficult to breathe, which she believed was due to her airways being restricted. The victim reported Ramirez-Garcia told her he would kill her if she left him and that he wanted to be with her forever.

According to court documents, the incident ended when the victim’s daughter entered the residence and separated the two, allowing the victim to call 911. Ramirez-Garcia was later transported to the Lake County Jail, where he was lodged following booking procedures.
