Lake Station Police Arrest Man In A Stolen Dodge Hellcat

Shortly before 8PM Tuesday, a Lake Station Police officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a speeding black Dodge Challenger on Central Ave, according to Police.

When the officer activated his lights to conduct a traffic stop the Dodge fled. The vehicle came back stolen out of Chicago recently, according to Chief James Richardson of The Lake Station Police. Multiple Lake Station officers joined in the pursuit that went west down Clay to Willow where the Challenger went airborne down a steep embankment, crashing through a shed, then barely stopping on the banks of Deep River.

The suspect then fled on foot from the car running on to the iced over river. He was taken into custody by officers shortly after. WAFFCO Towing recovered the vehicle.

The investigation is still active and charges will be sent in the morning. Check back to this article for updates and suspect info.
