Lake Station Police Respond To Shooting At Bar
On Saturday, 08-10-2024, at approximately 9:18 PM, officers of the Lake Station Police Department were dispatched to The Draft House, a bar located in the 4900 block of Central Avenue for reports that officers were needed because there had just been a fight inside, and as a result, there was a gunshot victim and possibly other subjects needing medical attention, according to Lake Station Police.
On arrival officers located a male subject inside with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his upper right side and right hand. Officers rendered aid and the subject was ultimately transported to the hospital where he was treated and released for non-life-threatening injuries.
During the investigation, it was determined that the gunshot victim was at the bar when a fight broke out involving other male subjects he did not know. When he saw a male subject on the ground being beaten by several subjects, an employee asked him to intervene, which he did. At that time, a male subject unknown to him pulled out a handgun and shot him.
