Lake Station Traffic Stop Nets Guns, Drugs, and Wanted Man

On Thursday February 27 around 7pm Lake Station Police conducted a traffic stop on the 2500 block of Clay St, according to Lake Station Police Chief James Richardson. As officers approached the vehicle they encountered a strong odor of Marijuana coming from the vehicle that was occupied two times, reports state.

The driver provided a valid drivers license and the passenger gave two false names to police which was later determined he did so because he had active Lake County warrants. Both subjects were detained and searched. Police found a gun on each individual and bags of Cocaine on the driver. Police then initiated a search of the vehicle that uncovered multiple bags of Crack Cocaine, Richardson told Region News.

Names have not been released yet pending more charges. Both driver and passenger were taken to Lake County Jail and charged with the following –

Driver – Possession of Cocaine, Possession of a handgun without a permit, and Possession of marijuana.

Passenger – False Informing, Failure to Appear on Felony Warrant, Resisting Law Enforcement, and Possession of a Handgun without a Permit.
