Lansing Police Conducting Homicide Investigation Sunday
On July 26, 2020 at approximately 9:20 a.m., the Lansing Police Department responded to the area of 184th and Violet for a report of shots fired, according Lt. Al Phillips of the Lansing Police.
Upon arrival, officers located two subjects with gunshot wounds. The first victim was a 20 year-old female who was transported to Munster Franciscan Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The female has been identified by the Lake County Coroner as Tayveona Edwards, 20, of University Park.
The second victim was a 24 year-old male who was treated and transported to an area hospital where he is in stable condition. At this time, this does not appear to be a random event, Phillips stated.
