LaPorte County Sheriff Employees Recognized

On January 4, 2020, the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office hosted its annual recognition dinner and department meeting at Heston Hills Banquet Center.  The event is held once a year and allows the employees of the Sheriff’s Office to enjoy fellowship amongst each other and their loved ones.  Sheriff John T. Boyd addressed the large crowd and announced the accomplishments and highlights of the agency during 2019.  He also outlined the agency goals for 2020.  During the meetingseveral employees were recognized and awarded for acts of bravery, life-saving actions and for going above and beyond the call of duty.  

The following employees of the Jail Division were presented with life-saving awards:  Deputies James Hildebrandt, Ethan Lonske, Charles Davis, Eric Murray, Ethan Krivak, Corporal Dallas Hutts and Sergeant Jeff Holt.    

The following employees of the Merit Division were presented with life-saving awards:  Deputies Scott Lanoue, Ryan Doperalski, Jacob Pisowicz, Justin Phillips, Josh Smith, Alex Pishkur and Captain Andy Hynek.    

The following employees were presented with the Sheriff’s Merit Commission and 1st Source Bank “Beyond the Expected” award: Captain Hynek, Sergeant Jeff Wright and Deputy Gary Biggs.  

In 2019, the Jail Administration undertook two very large projects.  The transition of medical care providers and the privatization of kitchen services began to occur.  As a result, these two projects are projected to save the taxpayers of La Porte County approximately $493,000.00 in 2020.  Jeanne Crosslin, Jail Administrative Coordinator, was responsible for making these transitions occur.  She was recognized for her detail, work ethic and enthusiasm.  For all her efforts, Mrs. Crosslin was presented with Chief Deputy Ron Heeg’s “Hard Hat” award.  The “Hard Hat” award is given to a division or employee of the Sheriff’s Office who performs to an exceptional level.     

Sheriff Boyd stated, “Undoubtedly, several lives were saved by the efforts of these deputies.  Their dedication to serve others inevitably made an impact on many individuals and families throughout La Porte County.  I publicly thank these deputies for their steadfast commitment and service.
