LaPorte Man Charged After Indecent Exposure Near Playground and Pavilion
On June 20, 2025, officers responded to the area of Stone Lake Beach (300 Grangemouth Drive) in reference to reports of a suspicious person. Multiple callers advised of a male subject watching children in a white Pontiac convertible with his pants off and his hands in his lap.
According to court documents, officers located the suspected vehicle parked in front of the Stone Lake beach pavilion and playground area and approached the driver-side door to make contact with the driver.
The male, later identified as Jon P. Miller, was observed with his pants pulled down and his hands covering his genitals. When instructed to pull up his pants and exit the vehicle, Miller moved his hands, revealing exposed genitals that appeared to be covered in a substance resembling lubrication or ejaculate. Officers noted Miller’s poor manual dexterity and had to assist him in exiting the vehicle and securing him in handcuffs.
Miller, 61, showed signs of impairment but registered a 0.00% BAC on a portable breath test. He stated he had not taken his insulin that day. A consent search of the vehicle revealed a white powdery substance in a tobacco container, which tested positive for cocaine and weighed approximately 0.5 grams. A glass pipe was also recovered near the center console.
Miller admitted the substance was “crack” and said he had smoked it about an hour earlier. He was taken into custody and later transported for medical clearance before being returned to the LaPorte County Jail.
Court records indicate Miller has a prior conviction for possession of paraphernalia. He is currently lodged in the LaPorte County Jail.

• Possession of Paraphernalia (Prior Conviction), Class A Misdemeanor
• Public Indecency, Class A Misdemeanor
