On July 4, 2022 just before 10:00 PM Lake Station Police & Fire responded to the 3300 block of Edison Drive for a gun shot victim, according to police.
On arrival police found a man suffering from multiple gun shot wounds. The victim later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The Lake County Coroner has identified the victim as Joshua Alvarez, 19, of Gary.
At this time it is believed a group of known parties was arguing and a suspect shot Alvarez as they were walking home from the fireworks at the park. That suspect was later taken into custody by police. The identity of the suspect is pending formal charges. Lake Station Police called this an isolated incident.
