
Man Charged After Police Seize Fentanyl, Firearms, and Cash During Search
A 54-year-old Gary man is facing multiple felony charges following the execution of a search warrant at a home in the 2400 block of Waverly Drive in Gary, where police say they located fentanyl, firearms, cash, and drug-related materials.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Lake County, detectives executed a search warrant on July 10, 2025, at a residence in Gary. Inside the home, investigators located a male identified as Anthony Darnell Nichols, who was arrested on a probable cause hold. His identity was confirmed during the booking process.
Police reported the following items were found inside the residence:
• Approximately 20.6 gross grams of a substance that field tested positive for fentanyl
• Three firearms
• A digital scale
• $1,327 in cash
• Packaging materials
• Multiple types of prescription pills
Court records indicate that Nichols has a prior conviction for Dealing in a Narcotic Drug, a Class B felony, from August 13, 2013, in Lake County Superior Court.

Nichols was lodged in the Lake County Jail on July 28, 2025.
