Man Charged After Schererville Police Pursuit and Drug Seizure
A 38-year-old man is facing multiple charges after allegedly fleeing from Schererville police, injuring an officer, and being found with methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine. The man also has an active arrest warrant out of Michigan and is expected to face additional charges related to a burglary reported in another Indiana county.
According to court documents, on May 25, 2025, Schererville police attempted to stop a white Chevrolet Malibu with Louisiana plates, suspected of being involved in a burglary in Lake Village. The vehicle stopped in a restaurant parking lot, but the driver, identified as Curtis Roy White, refused commands to exit. As officers approached, White allegedly put the vehicle in drive, striking one officer’s arm and running over his foot.

White then fled at a high rate of speed, driving into oncoming traffic before crashing into mailboxes, garbage cans, and a boulder on Joliet Street near Cline Avenue. The vehicle was unoccupied when officers arrived. A perimeter was established, and a K9 unit from the Merrillville Police Department assisted with the search.
According to court documents, K9 “Dozer” located White hiding in thick vegetation, holding his dog. He refused commands and physically resisted as officers attempted to arrest him, kicking one officer multiple times before being subdued with pepper spray.
Police recovered a bag containing syringes, drug paraphernalia, and substances that field-tested positive for methamphetamine (5.6 grams), fentanyl (0.3 grams), and cocaine. A hat matching the burglary suspect description was found in the vehicle, and a nearby resident later turned over a bag of jewelry allegedly discarded by White.
White was evaluated for injuries from the crash and pepper spray, then transported to jail.
Curtis Roy White was charged on May 27, 2025, with:
- Possession of Methamphetamine; between 5–10 grams (Level 5 Felony)
- Possession of a Narcotic Drug – Fentanyl (Level 6 Felony)
- Battery Against a Public Safety Official (Level 6 Felony)

- Leaving the Scene of an Accident (Class B Misdemeanor)

He is currently lodged in the Lake County Jail. Additional charges related to the Lake Village burglary are expected to be filed in Newton County.
