Man Fled From Police In Stolen Car Leading To Crash
Around 1:50 PM Wednesday, Merrillville Police attempted to stop a vehicle which fled from Officers near 56th & Broadway, according to Assistant Chief Kosta Nuses.
The vehicle continued to flee at high rates of speed pulling away from police. As officers attempted to keep up with the Lincoln it crashed into another vehicle near 36th & Martin Luther King in Gary. Two suspects attempted to flee on foot from the crash but were quickly apprehended.
Police later learned the Lincoln was stolen with fictitious plates. The driver is a facing numerous pending charges. A female passenger was also taken into custody near the scene. No further information was immediately available.
