Man Killed In Gary Store Shooting
On December 11, at about 7:29 PM, Gary Police responded to a shooting at a grocery store in the 2100 block of Malcolm X Drive, according to Gary Police.
Witnesses told the responding officers that two men began shooting at each other inside of the store. Officers entered the store and found one male inside the store deceased, police stated.
Officers secured the scene and began interviewing witnesses and reviewing the store’s video footage. The video depicts the victim and another man involved in a physical fight at the check out counter. A weapon was drawn and the victim was shot. The shooter can be seen picking up his items, walking around the victim’s body, and leaving the store.
Witnesses told the officers that during the altercation the suspect left his debit card at the cash register. With the card, officers were able to identify the shooter and he was apprehended while walking in the area of 600 E. 20th Ave. which is an area not far from the shooting.
The alleged shooter is a 44-year-old Gary man. The victim is a 48 year old man also from Gary.
