Man Punches Woman In Stomach & Runs From Lansing Police

On August 5, 2020 at approximately 2:19 p.m., Lansing Officers responded to the area of 171st and Burnham Ave for a domestic dispute, according to Lt. Al Phillips. The caller advised that her boyfriend just punched her in the stomach and that he was carrying a handgun.

Upon officers arrival, the offender, later identified as Rasheed Moore, age 20, from South Holland, fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, he was apprehended in the 17100 block of Walter Street, Phillips stated. A loaded 9 mm High-Point handgun was located in close proximity of where Mr. Moore was taken into custody. A show-up with the victim was conducted and Mr. Moore was positively identified as the subject who had punched her and had the loaded weapon in his possession.

Rasheed Moore was charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Domestic Battery, and Resisting/Obstructing arrest for fleeing from officers. He was transferred to Markham courthouse where he is being held without bond.

This was not Mr. Moore’s first encounter with the Lansing Police Department. On July 15, 2020, Mr. Moore fled from officers on foot during a traffic stop. He was located after a short foot pursuit. A loaded Smith and Wesson .380 was located in close proximity to him then as well. In that incident, he was charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Resisting/Obstructing arrest for fleeing from officers, Police said.
