Man Shot & Killed By Assailant With Rifle
On Sunday, October 2, 2022, at approximately 7:20 PM, the Gary Police Department received a call for service reference a walk in gun shot victim at 600 Grant Street, Methodist Hospital, Northlake Campus, according to Commander Jack Hamady.
Officers arrived at the hospital and met with medical staff who advised that the victim a 37 year old male had succumbed to his injuries and was deceased, Hamady told RNS.
Officers spoke with the male that drove the victim to the hospital and that person advised they were in the area of 900 Williams Street in Gary. He advised he and the victim were outside a truck delivering a motor to a friend when an unknown male came out from the alley wearing all blue carrying a rifle. He observed that same male point the rifle at them and begin firing in their direction. That is when the victim was struck by gunfire.
The male suspect fled on foot from the area with the rifle. That is when the victim was transported to the hospital by private vehicle.
Lake County Coroner was notified as well as Gary/Lake County Metro Homicide Unit and Lake County Crime Lab. The Lake County Coroner has since identified the victim as Arlandus Jackson, 37, of Chicago.
