Man Shot While Carrying Groceries In Home

On Tuesday at approximately 5:10pm East Chicago patrol officers responded to a shooting at 3608 Michigan Court, according to Deputy Chief Jose Rivera of the East Chicago Police Department. The caller told police that she was bringing in groceries to her apartment with her boyfriend when they heard gunfire. The witness then stated her 26-year-old boyfriend was shot in the buttocks area, Rivera told RNS. The victim was transported to St. Catherine’s Hospital for treatment, and his condition is unknown at this time.

Detectives are actively working on this case, Rivera said and plans to have more information soon.
