Man Struck By Car Friday On US 30 In Merrillville

On 5/9/2025 at approximately 10:40 p.m. Merrillville Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Eastbound US 30 near Connecticut Street for a crash involving a pedestrian, according to Merrillville Police.

Officers arrived a short time later and encountered a subject who had been struck by a vehicle in the Eastbound lanes of US 30. The subject had significant head injuries and possible broken bones from the collision, police said.

Medics and Merrillville Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the subject to a local hospital for treatment. The subject was later flown out to a Chicago area hospital and is listed in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and provided information to officers who responded to the scene. The Merrillville Police Accident Team responded to the scene and began their investigation.
