MAN WANTED FOR SEX OFFENSES AGAINST A CHILD THROUGH NORTH CAROLINA ARRESTED
On August 3, 2021 at approximately 8:00 PM, the Hobart Police were dispatched to 241 South Virginia Street in reference to a subject who had an active warrant for his arrest through North Carolina, according to Captain James Gonzales.
The Detective from North Carolina contacted Lake County dispatch center and advised them that a suspect, Carlos Villarreal had an active warrant for his arrest for Sexual Offense on a Child and Indecency Involving a Child, the Detective also advised dispatch that he may be at 241 South Virginia Street. The Detective also advised that his neighbors seen Mr. Villarreal earlier in the day packing up his van.
Hobart Officers responded to 241 South Virginia Street and set up a perimeter around the residence and attempted to make contact with Mr. Villarreal, but no one answered the door. The on-scene supervisor made the decision to contact Northwest Regional SWAT (NWRS), so that entry could be made to ensure that Mr. Villarreal wasn’t inside the residence.
Shortly after NWRS was contacted Mr. Villarreal surrendered peacefully to the Hobart Officers on scene, and he was taken into custody. Mr. Villarreal was transported to the Lake County Jail and is currently awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.
Mr. Villarreal is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
