Marine Recruiter Arrested For Child Seduction in La Porte County

On 1/21/2025 a Marine recruiter based out of La Porte County was charged with 2 counts of Child Seduction, both Level 5 Felonies, according to charging documents.

On January 9, 2025 a father reported to La Porte Police that he discovered his 17-year-old daughter was sexually involved with a Marine Recruiter based off text messages.

In December of 2024 the teen went into the recruiting office to get information on the Marine Corps and to take the ASVAB test. At some point during this meeting the recruiter she spoke to asked the teen to join him and others at the gym. During that meet up the pair talked about taking things to the next level sexually.

After school the first week of January the teen met up at the recruiting office multiple times where the pair was sexual with each other. After one of those occasions the recruiter gave the teen his debit card to use at CVS to purchase a Plan B pill and protein shakes because she became worried about becoming pregnant.

On 1/17/2025 detectives went to Michigan City High School and spoke to the recruiter now identified as 27-year-old Daniel Escobar. Escobar was brought to the La Porte Police Department where he declined to comment and requested a lawyer.

Escobar was transported to the La Porte County Jail and charged with two counts of Child Seduction.

The legality is since he is a military recruiter for the United States Marine Corps, having a “professional relationship” with a child at least sixteen (16) years of age but less than eighteen (18) years of age, engaged in sexual intercourse or other sexual conduct with the minor is against the law.
