MC Man Arrested After Hit & Run Spree Wednesday

A Michigan City man was arrested after a Hit and Run spree Wednesday afternoon, according to Sgt. Cisco Rodriguez of The Michigan City Police Department.

On Wednesday September 2nd at around 3:50 P.M., the La Porte County Regional Dispatch Center received a 911 call indicating that a vehicle had struck several vehicles and overturned at the intersection of Franklin Street (US 421) and Kieffer Road (CR 400N), on the south end of Michigan City. Furthermore, the 911 caller indicated that a black male subject exited the overturned vehicle and fled on foot toward Dunes Inn.
Several Deputies from the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office were immediately in the area. Deputies were able to set up a perimeter and locate and identify the suspect that had fled the scene on foot as Robert A. ROSENBOURGH, 32, of Michigan City. ROSENBOURGH was detained as Officer Garrett McDaniel and other MCPD Shift 2 Patrol Officers investigated the incident.

Officers determined that ROSENBOURGH was operating a white 1997 Range Rover when he rear-ended a vehicle at the intersection of Larkspur Lane and Franklin Street. ROSENBOURGH then fled the area, southbound on Franklin Street where he approached the intersection of Franklin Street and Kieffer Road. ROSENBOURGH then struck four more vehicles at this intersection causing the Range Rover to flip onto its side.
ROSENBOURGH then fled from the overturned vehicle where he was later located by the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from K9 Deputy Jon Samuelson, and his partner Bosco.

ROSENBOURGH was charged with several counts of Leaving the Scene of an Accident and a count of Driving with a Suspended License, all misdemeanors. ROSENBOURGH is currently being housed at the La Porte County Jail on a $600 cash bond.

The intersection of Franklin Street and Kieffer Road was shut down for a short time as the vehicles were removed from the roadway, Rodriguez stated. Three people were also transported to Franciscan Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Assisting at the scene were: La Porte County EMS, Michigan City Fire and the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office.
