Merrillville Man Facing Multiple Charges After Fleeing Police, Found with Packaged Marijuana As If He Was A Dispensary

A Merrillville man is facing a long list of felony and misdemeanor charges after an early morning traffic stop escalated into a police pursuit, physical resistance, and the discovery of a significant quantity of marijuana.

Nigel Nabrew Webb Jr., 25, was arrested on May 19, 2025, just before 1:00 a.m., after Merrillville Police attempted to stop his white Nissan Altima near 54th Avenue and Harrison Street in Merrillville.

According to court documents, when officers initiated the stop, Webb allegedly refused to comply, reversed toward the patrol car, and ignored repeated commands to exit the vehicle. Officers noted the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, along with Webb’s slurred speech and bloodshot eyes. After continued noncompliance and resistance, officers forcibly removed Webb from the car.
