Merrillville Police Conducting Homicide Investigation
On April 4, 2020 around 12pm Merrillville Police were dispatched to the 600 block of W 63rd Ave in reference to a gun shot victim, Commander Jeff Rice of The Merrillville Police said. On arrival officers found a deceased female in the residence.
The Lake County Coroners Office stated they have a Hispanic, Jane Doe, 29 years old. The coroner listed a gun shot wound as the cause of death and the case has been classified has a homicide.
Merrillville Police are actively conducting the homicide investigation. FBI GRIT and ATF are assisting in this investigation. We will have updates on this incident as information becomes available.
Update – Merrillville Police with the assistance of the Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force, GRIT, and ATF took a person of interest into custody last night around 11:30pm. Commander Jeff Rice emphasized this was an isolated domestic incident.
