Michigan City Man Charged With Child Solicitation
PORTAGE — Charles William Krone, 57, of Michigan City, is facing two felony child-solicitation charges after investigators say he drove to Portage to meet someone he believed was a 13-year-old girl.
The affidavit states that NWI Predator Catchers reported the incident to Portage Police on November 29, 2025, after communicating with a decoy profile posing as a 13-year-old. Officers reviewed electronic messages in which Krone acknowledged the age presented to him as 13 and continued the conversation.
According to the sworn filing, the messages included Krone offering “$300” connected to “Netflix and chill,” along with discussions about hooking up. Investigators wrote that the decoy provided a designated and agreed-upon meeting location in Portage, and Krone drove from Michigan City to that address believing he was meeting a 13-year-old.
Police transported Krone to the Portage Police Department, where he agreed to speak with a detective after waiving his Miranda rights. According to the affidavit, Krone said he initially believed the profile belonged to an adult but later assumed the individual was 13. He reportedly told investigators he planned to take the person to McDonald’s for McNuggets and then see where it goes.
The affidavit further states that Krone acknowledged having sex with a child was sick,yet said he was still willing to see where things went.Police reported he admitted his actions during the interview.
