Michigan Man Charged With Child Solicitation In Portage
Portage- Rodrigo Gonzalez-Velazquez, 35, of Wyoming, Michigan, is facing two felony child-solicitation charges after investigators say he drove more than two hours to Portage to meet someone he believed was a 13-year-old girl.
The affidavit states that NWI Predator Catchers reported a suspected child-solicitation incident to Portage Police on November 29, 2025. The group told officers they had been communicating with a decoy profile portraying a 13-year-old, and officers reviewed a message thread investigators say showed Gonzalez-Velazquez acknowledged the age and continued the conversation.
According to the filing, investigators observed posts where Gonzalez-Velazquez recognized that the person he believed he was meeting was 13 years old and one month from turning 14.Police wrote that he was still willing to drive from Michigan to Portage for sexual activity with someone he believed to be a minor.
The affidavit states that Gonzalez-Velazquez traveled over two hours from Michigan to Portage and arrived at the designated location during the operation. He was then taken to the Portage Police Department, where he was read his Miranda rights in Spanish, provided a written copy, and agreed to answer questions.
Investigators reported that the message thread clearly showed repeated acknowledgment of the decoy’s age and willingness to proceed.
