Missing Chicago Man Found In Laporte Is Now A Homicide
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division continued to work the death investigation throughout the weekend.
On Saturday morning (01/04), the decedent was identified as Joseph D. CLOPTON (47 YOA) of Chicago, Illinois. Information was learned that CLOPTON was previously reported as a missing person on December 19th, 2019. On Saturday afternoon, detectives met with Chicago Police Department personnel regarding the investigation.
This morning (01/06), a forensic autopsy was performed at Franciscan Health Michigan City. The death of CLOPTON is now being treated as a homicide. Detectives are continuing with their investigation.
Members of the La Porte County Coroner’s Office and the Chicago Police Department are also assisting in the investigation.
