Multiple Vehicle Crash Results In Rollover In Liberty Township
All occupants walked away with non-life threating injuries in a multiple vehicle wreck that closed U.S. Highway 6 for about one hour shortly after 7:30 AM Wednesday, according to Lt. Matthew Wineland of the Liberty Township Fire Department. A four-vehicle crash in front of Arbor View Animal Hospital in Liberty Township resulted in one vehicle rolling over and landing upright several hundred feet down the road.
Occupants were checked out by Porter County EMS personnel.
Of the vehicles involved in the wreck, multiple airbags were found deployed inside the vehicles protecting the occupants inside. Extrication was not needed as occupants were able to safely exit the vehicles, Wineland stated. One vehicle was found to be smoking resulting from coolant leaking and hitting hot surfaces creating the illusion of a vehicle fire.
Travelers this morning may have experienced slight delays between County Road 200 West and State Road 149 (300 West) on U.S. Highway 6, as both directions of travel were temporarily shut down resulting from debris spread across the roadway and vehicles from the wreck.
