Munster Fire Damages Home & Garage
Munster Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 8500 block of Harrison Ave, Monday, around 11:06 PM, according to Munster Fire Chief Mark Hajduk.
On arrival crews encountered a fully involved detached garage fire with one vehicle inside and another vehicle outside the garage on fire. The fire had spread to the rear of the house as well. Crews immediately attacked the fire with their ladder trucks and from the ground.
The residents of the home made it out safely but two firefighters were treated for minor injuries, according to Hajduk. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Responding departments for Mutual Aid included Lynwood, Lansing, Glenwood, Calumet City, Highland, Schererville, Superior Ambulance, and Dyer with station coverage.
