MUNSTER MAN ARRESTED AFTER 200-POUND DRUG BUST IN CHICAGO
A Munster man is facing multiple felony charges after Cook County Sheriff’s Police recovered nearly 200 pounds of illegal drugs during a Streeterville drug trafficking investigation.
According to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, investigators with the Organized Crime Division executed a search warrant on November 4th at an apartment in the 200 block of East Illinois Street in Chicago. The investigation began after detectives learned that 34-year-old Christopher Jones, who officially lists his residence in Munster, Indiana, was allegedly selling marijuana from the location.
When investigators arrived, they observed Jones entering the apartment building’s underground garage and parking his Range Rover. Detectives reported a strong odor of cannabis coming from inside the vehicle. A Sheriff’s Police K-9 was deployed and alerted to possible drugs inside.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of approximately 14 pounds of cannabis.
Investigators then executed the search warrant on Jones’ apartment, where they uncovered a significantly larger supply of narcotics, including:
- Approximately 134 pounds of cannabis
- 41 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms

Jones was taken into custody and later charged by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office with multiple felony counts, including manufacture/delivery of more than 5,000 grams of cannabis, a Class X felony — the highest-level felony in Illinois short of murder.

Jones appeared for his initial hearing at the George N. Leighton Criminal Courthouse on Nov. 5 and was ordered released from custody pending further court proceedings.
Authorities remind the public that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
