Murder Charges Filed In Calumet City Homicide
On December 27, 2020 at 5:43 am, Calumet City Police and EMS Personnel responded to the 100 block of Oglesby for a female lying on the floor of an apartment, according to Calumet City Officials.
Officers arrived on scene and located a 45 year old female from Calumet City with apparent gunshot wounds. The female was deceased on scene.
Several hours after the Calumet City Police Department arrived on scene a female offender turned herself into the Merrillville Police Department. The Calumet City Police Department secured an arrest warrant to have the offender extradited back to Illinois. On December 30, 2020 the offender, 61 year old Kim Barreto from Calumet City, was extradited back to Illinois.
After reviewing the facts of the case the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office subsequently approved the charge of first degree murder for Kim Barreto. She is scheduled to appear in Bond Court on December 31, 2020.
