Natural Gas Smell In Crown Point
NIPSCO is currently repairing a natural gas leak on the Southwest side of Crown Point in the area of the Ellendale neighborhood, according to a NIPSCO release at 9:30pm Thursday.
The odor, similar to rotten eggs, has spread to various areas of the city resulting in multiple emergency calls. The repairs should take 3-4 hours during which the odor will persist.
Anytime you smell gas INDOORS, please call 911. However, for the next few hours, take the known leak into consideration before deciding to report gas odor outdoors, NIPSCO advised residents.
