NIPSCO Announces There Will Be No Shut Offs Due To COVID-19

Hammond State Represenative Carolyn Bascomb – Jackson announced that NIPSCO is voluntarily suspending shutoffs for nonpayment in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This suspension will apply to both residential and commercial customers and will remain in effect until further notice.

In addition, NIPSCO companies will offer their most flexible pay plans to customers impacted or experiencing hardship as a result of COVID-19. NIPSCO will continue to monitor current events and identify opportunities to support our customers and communities.

  1. Thank you for extending compassion to the community. I can only hope there will be no reason to need it, but am grateful in the instance that things escalate this will not be another worry.

I apologise for the negative comments on here as far as some gas already being shut off, but I too struggle VERY hard each month, but KNOW that a roof over my daughters head and gas for HEAT and cooking and for sanitation is NOT a luxury and is 1 if the FIRST things to be pd. I appreciate the companies compassion over this situation and PRAY that they keep with this and don’t charge extra or add fines onto an already STRESSFUL and trying time. I WILL continue paying like I do every month and I appreciate the fact that JUST IN CASE were to happen….my daughter WILL be fine.
