NWR SWAT Successfully Negotiates Safe Outcome In Cedar Lake
On Tuesday March 8th, 2022 at approximately 9:00 PM, Cedar Lake Police Department and Cedar Lake Fire
Department were dispatched to the 6200 block of 136th Place, according to Cedar Lake Police Chief William Fisher. Police were advised that a 32-year-old
male had a gun to his head and was threatening suicide.
Upon arrival police removed the family who were still inside of the residence. Cedar Lake Officers located the male subject in a bedroom who was armed with a handgun. Officers maintained visual contact with the subject while speaking to him, Fisher stated. NWR SWAT was notified and arrived on scene. Hostage Negotiators from NWR SWAT took over the negotiations speaking with the male inside of the residence.
After approximately 2.5 hours, the male subject was talked out of the residence and was taken to Franciscan Health in Crown Point for an evaluation. There was no injuries reported.
Chief Fisher thanked his Cedar Lake Police Officers, The Cedar Lake Fire Department, Indiana Conservation Officers, Northwest Regional SWAT, and its Negotiators whom all assisted in the safe resolution for the incident.
