NWR SWAT Takes Alleged Robbery Suspect Into Custody In Lowell

On July 27th, 2024 at about midnight Cedar Lake Officers were dispatched to the 12800 block of Cline Ave for the sound of gunshots being fired. Officers arrived in the area and were not able to locate the exact location of where the shots came from and there were no witnesses who could provide a specific location.

Cedar Lake Detective Marcus McDowell was assigned to investigate this case when it was determined the incident took place in the 8200 blk of W. 127th, Ave. through additional witnesses and the work of several Officers on the Cedar Lake Police Department. During the course of the investigation, several area searches were conducted. Shell casings and bullet holes in a vehicle and houses were found and provided evidence for the totality of the investigation. It was also determined that individuals came to the location in the 8200 blk of W. 127th Ave. for a drug-related transaction, which resulted in shots being fired and a cell phone taken from a juvenile victim, according to Cedar Lake Police.

Suspects and involved parties were identified during the investigations conducted by Dt.
McDowell which led to a search warrant being served in the 17300 block of Brookwood Dr in Lowell, on August 9th, 2024. As a result of that search warrant, additional evidence was
collected and resulted in charges being filed.

On August 9th, 2024 charges of Robbery (Level 5-Felony) were filed on Lazeriuks Edward Paige an 18-year-old Black male from Lowell. The case also remains under investigation and additional charges are being filed on other parties involved.

An additional search warrant was served at the original location in the 8200 blk of W. 127th Ave. The case remains challenging due to uncooperative witnesses and involved parties, police said.

The Cedar Lake Police Department commended their Officers for their work in this investigation which began with very little information and no involved parties. They also thanked the Lowell Police Department and NWR Swat for their assistance in serving the search warrant in Lowell.
