Off Duty Conservation Officer Saves Man At Highland Intersection
Highland Police were dispatched to Ridge and U.S. 41 for a medical emergency agency assist call at 4:26PM Monday, according to Highland Police Commander John Banasiak.
On arrival of Highland officers they found off duty Indiana Conservation Officer, Alex Neel, who was doing CPR on a 66 year old male from Highland. Neel who was apparently driving by the intersection at the time noticed there might have been an issue with the vehicle stopped. The male who was the passenger in the vehicle being driven by his wife who reported that the male had stated that he suddenly wasn’t feeling well. The male passenger has stopped breathing while in the car at the intersection the wife stated. Officer Neel was nearby and immediately came to their assistance, Banasiak said. Highland officers assisted Neel until Superior Ambulance medics arrived.
The patient was ultimately transported to Community Hospital and Highland Officer Perez gave the wife a courtesy ride to the hospital to meet up with the ambulance there.
The status of the male patient is unknown Tuesday morning but he was doing well after he was transported to the hospital.
Highland Officers who’s assisted Conservation Officer Neel on scene were Sgt. Randy Stewart, Officer Tyler Dills and Officer Tiffany Perez.
