One Man Shot & Killed On 80/94 Sunday Night
One male was shot in a vehicle on 80/94 Eastbound near the Ripley St exit shortly before 11:30PM Sunday night, according to Commander Becker of the Indiana State Police. The vehicle then came to a stop against the center median wall. Troopers arrived at the location and located a black 2004 Lincoln parked against the shoulder. The male driver was bleeding and was initially responsive with the officers. Troopers began to administer first aid to the patient which then turned into the officers performing C.P.R. until medics arrived. Eastbound lanes were shut down around 11:40PM for the investigation. All traffic was being diverted South on to Ripley. The expressway was reopened at 2:30AM.
Indiana State Police did find multiple shell casings in the roadway and bullet holes were seen in the vehicle struck, according to radio traffic. The victim was transported to St. Mary’s in critical condition, Becker told RNS. At 1:19AM The Lake County Coroner was dispatched to St. Mary’s Hospital as the victim succumbed to his injuries. The victim was identified as Twon Jones, 28.
