One Teen Dead Two Others In Critical Condition After EC Shooting
On Tuesday, December 15, at approximately 5:54 PM East Chicago Police were dispatched to 3565 Guthrie St in reference to shots fired, according to Deputy Chief Jose Rivera.
Upon arrival Officers were advised that someone was shot inside the apartment building. Officers exited their squad car and located an unresponsive male victim #1 on the sidewalk in front of 3565 Guthrie, Rivera said.
Male victim #1 was unconscious and not breathing. He was later pronounced deceased on scene by the medics. The victim has been identified by The Lake County Coroner as Jayden Brown, 17, of East Chicago.
Officers then entered apartment #4 and located two more male victims inside the apartment. Both victims were shot multiple times, but were conscious and breathing. Victim #2 was transported to Gary Methodist and Victim #3 was transported to St. Catherine’s Hospital. Both victims were in critical condition and later transported out to the University of Chicago.
Numerous spent shell casings and 3 handguns were recovered inside 3565 Guthrie Street, Rivera stated. The investigation is still ongoing, so no further information will be given at this time.
