Pedestrian Struck By 2 Vehicles Killed
Around 6 PM Tuesday, a pedestrian was struck by two vehicles near Churches Chicken on 15th & Broadway. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene. The vehicles both stopped at the scene and are working with authorities.
Upon further investigation by officers they discovered a female had parked her vehicle on the west side of Broadway to go to a restaurant on the east side of Broadway, according to Lt. Dawn Westerfield of the Gary Police. As she was leaving the restaurant and returning to her vehicle she was struck by a northbound vehicle which then put her into the southbound lanes and she was struck by a southbound vehicle.
The Lake County Coroner arrived on scene around 7PM. The female has been identified as of Wednesday at midnight as Brenda Doby, 71, of Gary.
