Pilot Not Injured After Emergency Landing In Field
Just after 2:15 PM, Tuesday, (11/14/2023), officers with the Lake County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to a call for a small plane that made an emergency landing in a farm field south of Lowell, Indiana, according to Sheriff Oscar Martinez Jr. The field is located near 241st and Whitcomb St.
A preliminary investigation revealed the pilot had engine trouble after leaving the Lansing Municipal Airport. He was heading home to Bainbridge, Indiana at the time, Martinez stated.
The pilot attempted to make an emergency landing in the farm field. Upon impact, the plane flipped over. No flames were reported. The pilot was able to walk away from the crash and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation.
The Federal Aviation Administration has been notified.
