Police Converge On Wheatfield Home

Around 7:30 AM, Monday, multiple agencies including Indiana State Police CSI, Jasper County Sheriff, and K9 Teams converged on a residence in the 4200 block of Old Orchard for an apparent search of the property.

Neighbors say the new home owner was asked to step away while police conducted a search of the property. Police using cadaver dogs searched the outside of the property focusing on two areas. During the search the Jasper County Coroners Office responded around the 9 AM hour. Neighbors told RNS the search seemed to focus on an area next to the garage and the fire pit area.

Neighbors believe officers were looking for children that may have been buried on the property by a previous owner.

The Jasper County Coroner did say a death investigation was underway but did not get into specifics on the matter, only saying more information would be released later Tuesday. The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office did not comment on the investigation late Monday.
