Police Pursuit Of Wanted Felon Ends In Hammond
A multi-agency task force apprehended a suspect wanted for multiple felonies after a pursuit that raced across the region in a stolen car Thursday night.
An officer spotted the wanted Monte Carlo and attempted a traffic stop near Colfax in Griffith around 7:30 PM Thursday. The vehicle fled across Calumet Township, driving through Griffith while hitting a few front yards to avoid oncoming police, then to 80/94 from Burr Street. The suspect continued westbound to Calumet Avenue where he hit spike strips. The suspect bailed out of the car at 175th & Calumet where he was quickly apprehended by about 30 officers. Officers learned the Monte Carlo was stolen and wanted out of Harvey, IL. Lake County Sheriff Aviation assisted in the air as well.
