Portage Police Arrest Illinois man for Child Solicitation
On February 26, 2025, Portage Police were contacted by a person who works with a group called NWI Predator Catchers. They advised that a male subject would be coming to a specified location in Portage to solicit sex from what the subject believed was going to be a 13 year old girl.
Portage Officers encountered the suspect, Dione C. Magsby, 27, of Chicago, was parked on the 6600 block of Windjammer in his black Jeep Liberty. According to court documents, the decoys from NWI Predator Catchers were conversing with Magsby via the Text Free app. The reporting parties informed investigators these conversations began on Grindr and then went to texting. Magsby was texting “Melanie” from a phone number that was registered to his name. Magsby believed that “Melanie” was a 13 year old girl.
The reporting party advised police that the conversations began on February 22, 2025, after meeting Magsby on the Grindr app. The reporting party shared the conversations that took place between 02/22/2025 and 02/26/2025 with the police. The contents of these conversations were very explicit in nature from Magsby and can not be posted on Facebook.
On February 27, 2025, Dione C. Magsby, 27, of Chicago was charged with:
Child Solicitation: F4 Felony
Child Solicitation : F5 Felony
