Portage Woman Charged After Entering Stranger’s Home While Intoxicated
Portage- A 45-year-old Portage woman, Melissa Sue Lloyd, has been charged in Porter County after police say she entered a stranger’s home in the middle of the day while intoxicated.
According to court documents, around 3:00 p.m.on November 5, 2025, Portage Police responded to a report from a resident in the 5200 block of Independence Avenue who said a woman had walked into his house without permission.
The homeowner told police he was inside eating when Lloyd opened his door and entered uninvited, saying she “needed to use the bathroom.” He told her to leave immediately.
Officers noted that Lloyd admitted to entering the residence, and several witnesses confirmed seeing her go inside. The homeowner told investigators he did not know her and had not given her permission to enter.

• Residential Entry – Level 6 Felony
• Public Intoxication (Endangers Her Life) – Class B Misdemeanor
