Possible Explosive Devices Recovered From Walmart Parking Lot
On Saturday April 22nd at approximately 5 PM, Schererville Officers were dispatched to 1555 US 41, Walmart, in regards to a possible bomb threat in the parking lot.
Upon arrival, two cans wrapped in duct tape with wires sticking out of them were located. The parking lot was cleared out and the Porter County Bomb Squad was called to the scene. They later collected and transported both packages for further investigation.
This was an isolated incident and Walmart is back open for business.
This is still an ongoing investigation with multiple departments assisting the Schererville Police Department; including the Porter County Bomb Squad, ATF, Highland Police Department, Dyer Police Department, Cedar Lake Police Department, Merrillville Police Department, Lowell Police Department, Hobart Police Department and the Lake County Sheriff’s Department.
