Pursuit Of Theft Suspects Ends With Arrests In Highland
On 12/24/23 at approximately 7:49 PM, St. John officers were dispatched to Target located at 9885 Wicker Ave in reference to subjects switching UPC bar codes on merchandise, according to St John Police . When they were confronted by Target security, they fled the scene in a gray Honda Civic bearing Illinois plates.
While officers were responding to the area, St John Officer Hickenbottom observed the suspect vehicle traveling north on Wicker Avenue from 93rd Avenue. She got behind the suspect vehicle and confirmed the license plate matched the plate that was given by Target security. Shortly after, Officers Hickenbottom and Officer Adams with the assistance of Schererville officers, conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle near the intersection of Wicker Avenue and 77th Avenue in Schererville. Officer Hickenbottom approached the vehicle and immediately observed several Target bags in the back seat, a male driver and a female in the front passenger seat.
As Officer Hickenbottom ordered the man to exit the vehicle, he took off northbound on Wicker Avenue where a pursuit ensued. The man continued northbound on Wicker Avenue driving through several red traffic lights and committing several other traffic infractions. While the vehicle was traveling northbound in the 8600 block of US41 in Highland, Highland and Munster PD officers were able to successfully deploy stop sticks on the suspect vehicle. At that time the officers boxed the suspect vehicle in which eventually came to a stop in the 8100 block of US41 in Highland.
Both occupants were taken into custody and several stolen items were located in the vehicle. Both suspects were later transported to the Lake County Jail. It is believed the suspects were involved in multiple thefts at area Target stores throughout Lake County.
Suspect One: Charged with Level 6 Felony’s Resisting Law Enforcement and Theft
20 year old – Trevor T. Reed, from Chicago IL.
Suspect Two: Charged with Level 6 Felony Theft
28 year old – Tytineeka T. Davis, from Alsip IL.
