Region Police Departments Taking Threats Serious
We have confirmed with area departments that there was a threat made concerning looting local businesses in Schererville overnight Thursday. A post on social media sharing a leaked internal email asking for extra man power by a police department brought concerns to area residents Thursday afternoon in regards to this threat. Region News spoke with Deputy Chief Jeff Cook of the Schererville Police who told us they are aware and have extra man power on the streets.
It’s unclear if this threat is credible but either way all local Police Departments will be standing by to protect area businesses and make arrests as needed. Area residents and business owners are asked to keep an extra eye out for any suspicious activity and call 911.
We will provide any updates to this through the night.
Update – Schererville Police Deputy Chief Jeff Cook is reporting that there was no incidents in the area last night. Added security will still be present in the areas.
