Rensselaer Home Raided; Chicago Man Charged With Child Molesting
Rensselaer- A Chicago man identified as Davaughn T. Credit, 21, is charged with Level 1 felony child molesting after an 11-year-old girl was tracked to Rensselaer and later disclosed during a forensic interview that Credit put his hand and “private parts”into her vagina, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Jasper County.
On November 24, 2025, an Illinois mother contacted police to report her 11-year-old daughter missing. She stated the child left home without permission on November 21, and she used Life360 to track the girl’s cellphone. The location showed her daughter was in Rensselaer, Indiana, and family told her the child “may be with Davaughn Credit,” the affidavit states.
The child was located in Rensselaer on the evening of November 22 by an adult sibling. According to the affidavit, she appeared “either high or intoxicated,” and she was transported to University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital for evaluation.
On December 3, 2025, a forensic interview was completed at the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center. The 11-year-old stated that Credit, whom she referred to as “Day Day,” put his hand and private parts into her vagina. She said the assault occurred inside a bedroom at “Nathan’s house,” describing the home as a white house with bricks, a wheelchair ramp, and stairs — matching a residence on the 400 block of North McKinley Avenue in Rensselaer.
She also told investigators she communicated with Credit primarily through Snapchat, and the account associated with him displayed his name.
Investigators reviewed jail calls and video visits involving a resident of the home and confirmed Credit had been staying at the McKinley Avenue residence for several weeks. A resident identified the specific bedroom Credit had been staying in, matching the room described during the forensic interview.
On December 5, 2025, officers executed a search warrant at the residence on the 400 block of North McKinley Avenue. According to the affidavit, officers located Credit inside the home, and he was taken into custody on five outstanding warrants.
Inside a bedroom that Credit was exiting from, officers found a rolled marijuana cigar and two baggies in a trash can containing white residue that field-tested positive for cocaine, according to the affidavit. Investigators noted Credit had been staying in that bedroom “for at least several weeks,” and that the home had been a target in multiple narcotic investigations.
The incident occurred within the city limits of Rensselaer in Jasper County.
