Schererville Fire Department Quickly Extinguished Dryer Fire In Apartment
Schererville Fire Department responded to structure fire at The Meadow Lane Apartments located on the 2000 block of Meadow Lane at 7:41PM Wednesday.
On arrival crews were met with heavy smoke coming from the doors and a dryer on fire in the laundry room. Crews quickly extinguished the dryer where the fire was contained. There were no reported injuries and no tenants were displaced, according to Schererville Fire Chief Robert Patterson. Crews cleared the scene around 8:45PM, Patterson told RNS.
A tenant in the building whose apartment is next to the laundry room said the building quickly filled with smoke and a neighbor was knocking on everyone’s doors to get them out. The woman was impressed at the speed the fire department arrived and handled the situation.
Schererville was assisted by Lake Hills who assisted on scene with ventilation. Griffith Fire Department covered a station for the town.
