Schererville House Fire Quickly Extinguished
A house fire was quickly contained shortly before 8pm Monday on the 200 block of Wilhelm St in Schererville. Crews from Schererville, Griffith, Lake Hills were on scene for what Schererville Fire Chief Robert Patterson said was a kitchen fire. The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire but arrived shortly after. The family dog who was in the home made it out according to Patterson. The home sustained heavy smoke and water damage but no injuries were reported from any first responders. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
