Schererville Man Charged After Violent Assault on Disabled Roommate

Schererville- Christian Bradley Harris, 26, of Schererville, has been charged after police say he violently assaulted a disabled roommate during an altercation on October 4, 2025.

According to court documents, officers with the Schererville Police Department were dispatched around 8:30 a.m. to an apartment in the 8000 block of Alpine Place for a report of a fight. When officers entered the building, they heard cries for help coming from a lower-level apartment. Inside, they found a man on the floor pleading for help while Harris stood nearby in a fighting stance.

Police detained Harris, who admitted to punching the man several times and placing him in a chokehold. He also admitted to accidentally striking another person who attempted to intervene and stated that he “has homicidal tendencies without the kill part,” according to the documents.

Investigators noted the victim was physically disabled and unable to defend himself. The records state Harris placed his arm around the man’s neck, pulled him to the ground, and continued choking him until officers arrived.

Medics transported the victim to a local hospital, and he was later transferred to a hospital in Chicago, where doctors reported multiple fractures around his left eye and a broken jaw.
