Shots Fired At Kenwood Tap In Hammond
Hammond Police responded to numerous calls of shots fired inside the business of Kenwood Tap in the 6200 block of Kennedy Ave Sunday morning around 2:30am. Witnesses stated that a fight broke out inside the bar and a subject started shooting into the ceiling, according to Lt. Steve Kellogg of The Hammond Police. Witnesses described even more shots being fired in the parking lot after the initial altercation. Numerous calls to 911 stated over ten shots fired off in a usually quiet neighborhood according to neighborhood residents. One caller stated seeing people running & yelling near Kennedy Ave as shots were being fired. A surveillance video sent from a Hessville resident captured the gunfire.
About 45 minutes after the initial shots fired call, St. Catherine’s Hospital in East Chicago had a gun shot victim walk in with an injury to his forearm. The 25 year old male from Chicago stated he was struck at Kenwood Tap.
